Self-Deceit

After the vote to approve the 9-11 Ground Zero mosque, Mayor Bloomberg was quoted in the New York Times -
“To cave to popular sentiment would be to hand a victory to the terrorists,” he said, standing with religious leaders in front of the Statue of Liberty."
Other times doing what the people want is called "democracy", isn't it?.

There is a saying, "Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad." That would seem to be the case of the New York liberal establishment.

What is especially ironic about the photo opp setting is that the next target of the folks behind the Ground Zero mosque will almost certainly be that very statue.

I should have known you'd be opposed to building a new mosque in New York City.

Your bigotry never ceases to amaze me.

I believe some Jews had similar problems in Poland in the late 19th century. They found it hard to build new synagogues. Millions fled to western Europe, Britain, and even a few thousand to Ireland. Its a pity that your historical irony meter is so poor.

  2. Christy, I am astonished that you have been able to write several sentences with only one insult or vulgarity. In this case instead of your usual crudity, you are merely ignorant.

Had the Jews firebombed large parts of Warsaw, the Poles would have had good case for not wanting new synagogues glorifying the firebombings nearby.

But there were no firebombings because Jews do not wantonly murder their neighbors. Muslims do.

(Christy, do not even bother with comparing Israeli reprisals for attacks on their citizens to Muslim terrorism. I will delete it.)

Indeed a close analog did occur at Auschwitz. The Poles attempted to build a Catholic church nearby. The implication was that they had some sort of moral claim to the site.

In fact the Poles, and the Catholic Church in particular, were among the perpetrators of the Holocaust.

Eventually the papacy was able to see that building a church there was an insult to the memory of those murdered at Auschwitz. John Paul II, who lived in Poland during the war and knew well the falsity of Polish denials of having participated in the Holocaust, forbade the building of the church.

That you did not know this and did not see the parallel does not reflect badly on Irish public schools so much as on you personally.

  3. I have decided to summarize some comments -

Christy writes to say that he is still insulting and still suffers from a sense of entitlement.

  4. Christy writes again with more insults and hostility. What a miserable wretch he must be to have so little going on but venting anger. He is like one of those teenage losers who writes "fuck you" on bathroom walls because he has no inner process and nothing to say. Except he hasn't even the excuse of being a teenager anymore.

Christy, maybe if you hadn't been drunk on the job you wouldn't have been fired? And you wouldn't now be unemployed with no prospect of ever not being?

But then again admitting that would be taking responsibility for yourself. Keep on venting hostility and racism instead. Much better solution for you.
