New York Times Drops Pretense of Honest Reporting Early

"Rush of Entries Gives ’08 Race Early Intensity"

The article goes on to describe Edwards as "a former senator from North Carolina", omitting to mention that he was the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee in 2004. What does it mean that the most prominent news source reduces itself to a mere propaganda rag? And for no better a cause than the candidacy of Hilary Clinton?

Not that I bear any brief for Edwards. He was on Jay Leno's show recently. When asked about immigration he replied, "The southern border is a mess. Something has to be done to fix that." So we are not going to hear the words "employer sanctions" coming out of his mouth anytime soon. One more standard-issue public liar.

If the NY Times is pulling for Hillary it is because they are really rooting for Rudy Giulianni. Hillary may win the nomination, she could do that. But she can not win the general election. She has too much baggage and is hated by far too many. It is important for a democrat to win the Presidency and win with the congress in the Democrats hands. Electability in November 08 should be the most important issue in the primaries.

While the blood of 600,000 Iraqis and 3000 Americans killed and many more wounded is on George Bush's hands, it is also on Ralph Nader's. Too many people thought the lesser of two evils was still evil. But really, the lesser of two evils is less evil. And we could all use a little less evil in the world.

  4. It is the character of East Coast elites to "know better". That is likely because they are willing to listen only to others members of the same elite. So they see no problem with the near-certainty that if Hillary wins the nomination she will lose the election. That is only a problem for those who don't realize that the object of political action is to flaunt one's certainty of one's own intellectual and personal superiority. The fact that Clinton will lead the Democrats to a crushing defeat is not important - what is important is that it will prove that everyone else in the country are yahoos and rednecks.

But it's true...except for a few pockets of resistance, the entire country between New York and San Francisco, is made up of yahoos and rednecks, or yahoos and googles. I have been to Red Bluff, Vina, Redding, Yuba City. I have seen with my own eyes.

Put a measure on the ballot that will pollute the neighboring county, kill their great grandkids, eliminate basic human rights and put $50 in their hands right now and they will vote for it. Remember Prop. 13?
